Graham MSP Simpson visited Taylor Wimpey’s Greenlaw Mill development in Penicuik with Michelle Ballantyne MSP.
Taylor Wimpey has developments in around 75% of Scottish local authorities and deliver around 1,200 homes every year. As a result, they directly employ over 500 people and, through their supply chain they help support in the region of about 4,000 jobs.
Graham Simpson MSP said “It was good to see first-hand the work that Taylor Wimpey undertake to deliver homes along with my colleague Michelle Ballantyne MSP.
“This visit followed a motion by my colleague Michelle Ballantyne supporting the work of Allan Anderson, Site Manager at Taylor Wimpey’s Greenlaw Mill development in Penicuik. Allan has been honoured with an NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award which recognises an individual’s dedication to building high-quality homes for new homebuyers and is presented following a rigorous judging process by NHBC inspectors. I wanted to take the opportunity to meet with Allan and recognise his achievement.
“During my visit we discussed the investment the firm makes in careers across a wide range of disciplines both on site and in the office.
“In Scotland we need to develop a strong and sustainable workforce which requires firms working with schools and colleges to provide information on these career opportunities in the sector. This is essential if we are going to meet Scotland’s future housing needs.
