Today at Public Audit Committee, Gregor Irwin Director-General Economy for the Scottish Government revealed that Glasgow Prestwick Airport is close to a sale. Graham Simpson MSP highlighted previous references to expressions of interest in the Airport and asked Scottish Government officials for an update.
Mr Irwin described the current stage of the sales process as "at its most intensive" and assured committee members that the Deputy First Minister would inform parliament "if there are any significant developments."
Graham Simpson MSP said: "It's good to hear that the process for returning Glasgow Prestwick Airport to private ownership is underway.
"We have heard expressions of interest in the past so I was encouraged that Gregor Irwin described the process as "at its most intensive" today."
