Graham Simpson MSP complained about the treatment received by an Airdrie woman who needs an operation - at First Minister's Questions.
Mr Simpson raised the case of Norma Henderson, who needs treatment for a gynaecological condition, in parliament last week and demanded an apology from Deputy First Minister John Swinney, who was standing in for Nicola Sturgeon.
Mrs Henderson, 61, who is the primary carer for her disabled daughter, first went to see her doctor in August but, despite being given three provisional dates for an operation, still remains on the NHS waiting list.
Mr Simpson said “The Scottish Government's 12-week waiting time guarantee expired in February for Norma and has proved utterly meaningless for her.
"Her condition is worsening but three planned dates for an operation have been cancelled.
"It comes to something when an MSP has to raise individual health cases like this in parliament but I am not the first and I won't be the last."
Health Secretary Shona Robison has agreed to meet Mr Simpson to discuss the case - and waiting times in Lanarkshire - later this month.
Mr Simpson said: "I am looking forward to getting this particular case sorted out and talking about the wider challenges which the health service faces.
"I want to ensure Mrs. Henderson does not suffer any more delays and find out how Ms Robison plans to ensure that this doesn’t happen to anyone else.”
Norma, 61, has said “I feel like my life has been put on hold for this operation – every time I’ve been told I’ll be going in to hospital it’s been cancelled.”
